- September 30, 2021 17গাঙ্গেয় পশ্চিমবঙ্গে গভীর নিম্নচাপের জেরে দক্ষিণবঙ্গের জেলাগুলিতে চলছে বৃষ্টি। মঙ্গলবার রাত থেকেই পূর্ব মেদিনীপুরের বিস্তীর্ণ এলাকাতেও ব্যাপক বৃষ্টিপাত হচ্ছে। যার জেরে নিচু এলাকাগুলি ইতিমধ্যেই জলমগ্ন হয়ে পড়েছে। বৃষ্টি এবং জল জমার জেরে সাধারণ মানুষের দুর্ভোগ বাড়লেও দিঘা-সহ উপকূল এলাকায় বিপজ্জনক পরিস্থিতি তৈরি হয়নি বলেই জানানো হয়েছে জেলা প্রশাসন সূত্রে।
বঙ্গোপসাগরে তৈরি হওয়া এই নিম্নচাপের কেন্দ্রবিন্দু রয়েছে হলদিয়ায়। সেখানেই জেলার মধ্যে সর্বাধিক বৃষ্টিপাত হয়েছে। গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় শুধু হলদিয়াতেই বৃষ্টি হয়েছে ২১৬ মিলিমিটার (মিমি)। হলদিয়ার থেকে কম হলেও কাঁথি এবং দিঘাতেও ভারী বৃষ্টি হয়েছে। কাঁথিতে গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় বৃষ্টি হয়েছে ১০৩ মিমি। উপকূলবর্তী এলাকায় ভারী বৃষ্টির পূর্বাভাস আগেই দিয়েছিল আবহাওয়া দফতর। সে জন্য আগাম প্রস্তুতি ছিল প্রশাসনেরও। উপকূল এলাকায় আগে থেকেই জারি ছিল সতর্কতা। দিঘায় সমুদ্রে নামতে দেওয়া হচ্ছে না কাউকে। পর্যটকদের ভিড় এড়াতে হোটেলগুলি খালি করার নির্দেশ আগেই দেওয়া হয়েছিল জেলা প্রশাসনের তরফে। কেলেঘাই নদীর বাঁধ ভেঙে গত সপ্তাহে প্লাবিত হয়েছিল ভগবানপুর, এগরা, পটাশপুর ও চণ্ডীপুরে বেশ কয়েকটি
